“Kill My Landlord” a Poem by Tryon Green (i.e, Eddie Murphy)

People who aren’t poets or part of the poetry community sometimes have naïve and archaic ideas about poetry. In this hilarious parody of modern poetry (or, er Post-Modern), Eddie Murphy has fun with words, and it’s a poem, so of course it rhymes.

Irrelevant fact:

Saturday Night Live debuted in 1975, the year Erica Jong came out with the novel, Fear of Flying, which some called the women’s Portney’s Complaint.

In Poetry, Ai came out with Cruelty, and Gary Snyder with Turtle Island.

That was the year Anne Sexton died, and when she released her book of poems called The Death Notebooks.
